Resources to support communities affected by U.S. tornadoes

Tornado season in the U.S. typically begins in March and lasts through June. On average, around 1,000 tornadoes are reported each year1.  

As of May, more than 800 tornadoes were reported, with 93 of those being EF2 or stronger2. On May 16, a wave of severe weather broke out across the Midwest and Southern regions, and carried on throughout the following weekend. At least 28 people lost their lives during these storms across, with the majority of fatalities occurring in Kentucky. It is currently estimated that these catastrophic storms have caused at least $9 billion in damages and destruction3
